NATUNA ISLAND

Natuna Regency, is one of the districts in the province of Riau Islands, Indonesia. Natuna is located north of Indonesia. In the north, lies adjacent to the Vietnam and Cambodia, the southern borders of Jambi and South Sumatra, in the western part of Singapore, Malaysia, Riau, and in the eastern part of East Malaysia and West Kalimantan. Natuna is located in the international shipping line Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. This famous district with the Oil and Gas. Natuna oil reserves estimated at 14,386,470 barrels, while natural gas 112,356,680 barrels.

History

Natuna Regency history can not be separated from the Riau Islands regency historical, because before self as autonomous regions, Natuna Regency area and is the Natuna Islands Riau.Natuna Regency was based on Law No. 53 of 1999 which was passed on 12 October 1999, with the inauguration Natuna Regent Drs. H. Andi Rivai Siregar by Minister of Home Affairs ad intrem TNI General Faisal Tanjung in Jakarta.

Based on a decree from the Delegation of the Republic of Indonesia, Central Sumatra Province on 18 May 1956 to merge themselves in the Region of the Republic of Indonesia, Riau Islands and given the status of Regional Autonomy Level II as head of the Regent are areas supervise 4 kewedanaan as follows:

* Kewedanaan Tanjungpinang, including Kec. South Bintan (including East Bintan, Galang, Tanjungpinang Tanjungpinang East and West).
* Kewedanaan Karimun, including the District of Karimun, Kundur and Moro.
* Kewedanaan Lingga, including the District of Lingga, Singkep and Senayang.
* Seven Kewedanaan Island, including the District Jemaja, Siantan, Midai, Serasan, Tembelan, Bunguran West and East Bunguran.

Seven Island Kewedanaan supervise the District Jemaja, Siantan, Midai, Serasan, Tambelan, Bunguran West and East Bunguran with kewedanaan laiannya removed based on a decree from the Governor of the Head of Regional Level I Riau on 9 August 1964 No. UP/247/5/1965. Based on these provisions, as of 1 January 1966 all local administrative kewedanaan in the Riau Islands regency deleted.

Natuna Regency was formed based on Law No. 53 of 1999 results of the District of Riau Islands, which consists of the District 6 District Bunguran East, West Bunguran, Jemaja, Siantan, Midai, and Serasan and one Assistant District Tebang Ladan.

Along with the authority of regional autonomy, Kabupaten Natuna area and conduct of the district, which until 2004 to 10 districts with the addition, District Pal Matak, Subi, Bunguran North, and Sea Island to the number of villages / village of 53.

Until the year 2007 has Natuna District 16 District. District 6 of the new District is among the three islands, Bunguran Northeast, Central Bunguran, Siantan South, East and Siantan East Jemaja the total number of villages / village as much as 75.

Topography

Based on the physical condition, Natuna Regency land is hilly and montane rock. Low and found a lot of land along the coast. Altitude region between districts enough variety, that is in the range of 3 up to 959 meters above sea level with a slope of between 2 to 5 meters. Climate and Weather

District lies in the climate is strongly influenced by changes in wind direction. Dry season usually occurs in the Month of March to the Moon in July. Rainfall average of 137.6 millimeter range with the average air humidity of 83.17 percent and 27.10 centigrade temperature range.

Population

Natuna Regency population in 2005 amounted to 93,644 people, with the rate of growth per year, 4.29 percent. Then the number of households at the end of 2005 amounted to 23,785 with a population of 93,644 inhabitants and consists of 47,945 inhabitants in men and 45,699 women of soul. Population density per km according to the district showed that the District ranks highest Serasan is 124.10 people per km2, followed by the District Midai 123.97 people per km2.

Potential

Besides the strategic location of the area and surrounding areas, lies in the fact was a series of potential natural resources that have not been adequately managed or that have not been there at all, which include: marine fishery resources of more than 1 million tons per year with a total utilization of only 36 %, which is only about 4.3% by the Natuna Regency.
